Hi! I'm Gary Bush. I now live in Columbus, Ohio ... home of the Blue Jackets and the Crew. I'm now retired. I was originally a research chemist and worked lastly as a Senior Project Manager in custom software development. I still develop web pages for non-profit groups I belong to. My personal pages are just for fun.
My wife, Linda, and I live in the southeastern part of the metro area, in the city of Canal Winchester. I'm originally from Cincinnati, growing up in Price Hill. Linda's from Washington, D.C. We live here now with our cats.
I have four grown children: Nancy, Bill, Cheri, and Angie. Nancy and her husband, Ray, live here in Canal Winchester. They have 4 children: Whitney and Ryan (twins), Kristine, and Molly. Bill lives in Delhi, just on the west side of Cincinnati. Cheri and her husband, Gary, live in the northwestern Cincinnati suburb of Monfort Heights. Angie and her husband, Greg, live outside Glendale on the north side of Cincinnati. My sister, Karin, and her husband, Jerry, live also in Delhi. Linda's brothers and their families still live in Maryland, outside Washington, D.C. They're all a great family!
Columbus is the capitol of Ohio. It's a dynamic city, growing fast with a good economic base. At well over a million people, it's getting pretty 'big'. Besides being the capitol, Columbus is probably most well known as the home of The Ohio State University and their "Buckeyes". Like our previous home in Jacksonville, Florida, it's very flat here ... I love the mountains! But, we still like it here a lot.
Linda and I are both cavers. We're members of the National Speleological Society (NSS). The nearest "large" caves are in Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, and West Virginia, where we started caving. I'm also very into vertical caving. We both belong to the Vertical Section of the NSS. Vertical caving is similar to mountaineering ... underground ... in the dark ... just to make it more interesting!
We spend our 'free' time enjoying the Symphony, the Zoo, theatres, and movies. I volunteer with the Fairfield County Sheriff's Office on the mobile Community Watch unit. I also help the Board of Elections every election season by testing voting computers and serving as a "rover" on election day. Linda is a Master Gardener and volunteers with the Franklin Park Conservatory. She also does volunteer tax preparation for the AARP Tax-Aide group every spring. I help that group by setting up five of their site's PCs and printers.
On the sports scene, we like soccer and hockey. When we can get away from the city, we really enjoy hiking, bird-watching, and camping. All these activities keep us very busy, but they're fun!
